more firsts

we are just entering the 2nd month of 2016, and it seems like everyday, i am doing something new! for example...this weekend, i did something that i never thought that i would do. as a matter of fact, when asked, i actually said no!!

but...i taught my 1st class!! and...it was fun!!! the class was held at the goddess of glass in minneapolis, in a great room, perfect for classes...long tables, bright lights, and coffee!! 

there were 6 women, and 1 man in the class...all lively!  some people knew each other,  but by the end of the class...everyone seemed to know everyone a bit!!

i had decided for my 1st class i would start with a small project. mini triptychs!! i "set" the table with places and supplies for everyone. i scattered assorted bits of papers, stamps, scrap foil and embellishments in the middle of the table. the best part was, that before i even had to say anything, my "students" were picking out papers! it was fun for me to see the combinations that they were going to use!

the class went on without any problems, well, except some of the people did not hear when i said to use a different brush when going from paint to glue! but that was no problem...collage is all about layering! you can always cover up anything that you might think is a mistake. collage is very forgiving.

it was fun to see everyone sharing their work, while in process and when finished. everyone has a different eye for how they were seeing things and using the papers and embellishments.

at the end of the class, we put all of the pieces together for a group shot!! very impressive!! 

it sounds like everyone had fun, and want to have another class with a bigger project! i will say yes to that!! 

for someone who really was not a good student (too bored, too fidgety!), i enjoyed the classroom as a teacher!! i will look forward to doing it again!

i also have at least 2 new things lined up to do this week!!
